This project involves the replacement of the Edison Furlong Road (Route 2079) bridge over Pebble Creek in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The bridge is a 12-foot-long, two-lane, single-span reinforced concrete slab structure with a bituminous wearing surface. The existing bridge was built in 1925.

The project scope is to replace the existing bridge on the same alignment. The proposed structure will consist of a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. The proposed out-to-out width of the bridge is 34’-10” and the proposed curb-to-curb width is 30 feet. A 4-foot shoulder on both sides of the road will be utilized to accommodate bicyclists along Edison Furlong Road. Edison Furlong Road is designated and signed as a PA Bike Route S.

PA 3-Rail Bridge Barrier will be placed on both sides of the proposed bridge; the barrier will be painted brown. Guiderail will be required for the project; it will be painted brown.

Due to the presence of aerial utility wires that run parallel to Edison Furlong Road on both sides of the bridge, utility wires and utility poles will require temporary or permanent relocation to allow for the replacement of the bridge.

The bridge replacement will require a detour along Edison Furlong Road during construction.

Permanent right-of-way acquisitions and temporary construction easements will be required.
